Lou Bertone
Patient Therapy Canine
Experience with Autism: 4 Human Years (28 Canine Years)
Lou was first introduced to Autism in early 2005 when he found his way into
Tara’s home. They quickly became a dynamic team to be reckoned with in the Twin
Cities. He was by her side when she started her private practice in her home in
Minneapolis, then later when she worked out of the Holland Center.
Lou’s claim to fame stems from his poise, calm manner under pressure and
steadfast dedication. He has been witness to hundreds of therapy sessions and
has been present for dozens of break-through moments when a child with ASD
speaks for the first time.
Lou’s role at Autism Matters is to see children off after their session. He is
the final piece of therapy and works to leave children looking forward to their
next visit.
