Julia possesses a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Economics from Macalester College in
St. Paul, Minnesota. Julia brings eight years of extensive research, literature review,
and general information-gathering to Autism Matters on behalf of her son,
who is autistic. Her thoughtful and unconditional dedication to not only
learning about, but also understanding the causes and multi-faceted treatments
for Autism have proven enormously effective for her son and should serve as an
inspiration to other parents.
Through attendance at numerous Autism-related seminars and conferences, Julia
has dedicated significant amounts of her time to better-understanding potential
solutions ranging from evidence-based treatment therapies to the research,
design and application of specific diets for children with Autism Spectrum
Disorders (ASD). She has a very thorough
and profound understanding of the relationships between ASD characteristics and
the human digestive system, and possesses a treasure-trove of information on
this particular topic.
Julia currently serves in the capacity of Parent Resource Coordinator.
In that role, she organizes the monthly Parent Book Club
and consults with parents about therapy, diet and biomedical
treatments. Julia’s kind, gracious, and enthusiastic disposition are infectious
and hope-inspiring. We are fortunate
to have such an individual on our staff, willing to share her wealth of
knowledge and experience with the autism community at large.
